Open Path has been designed to detect hydrocarbons in industrial applications. They are used most often in addition to point type gas detectors to monitor a wider area.
The SafEye Xenon 700 consists of an advanced Xenon Flash infrared transmitter (source) and infrared detector (receiver), separated over a line of sight from 13 feet (4 meters) up to 460 feet (140 meters) to detect and quantify flammable gas presence, even when challenged by extremely harsh environments where dust, fog, rain, snow or vibration can cause a high reduction of signal.
The open path analyzes atmospheric absorption at three selected spectral bands, two in a region where the target gas absorbs and one where it does not absorb. The ratio between these absorption lines can provide accurate information of the gas concentration along an optical path.
When no gas is present, the two signals are equal whereas if gas is present, measurement and reference signals are different.
These three detectors contribute to the reduction of false diagnostics and assure high immunity to false alarms.
Moreover, thanks to infrared technology, the SafEye Xenon 700 can maintain operational integrity up to 90% obscuration and accepts up to 1° misalignment tolerance.
The SafEye Xenon 700 includes heated optics on the transmitter and receiver to address icing, condensation and snow. No matter the application, the SafEye Xenon 700 is an ideal open path.
